Neither of us slept that great with the altitude but we got up and had a morning soak in the mineral pools which perked us up. After breakfast we started down the curvy mountain road, back into the hot and humid valley. In the afternoon we started up another mountain pass. This road soon turned into a rough, twisting and very rocky single lane through heavy jungle. Tameka hit the marbles on the edge of the road and took a hard spill landing on her right side. Fortunately her gear saved her from any serious injuries though she has a couple pretty good bruises. Her bike suffered the usual minor scuffs that come from that sort of thing.

We ended the day in the beautiful hill town of Jardin. The road to our hotel is only passable by four wheel drive vehicles so we needed to park our bike in town. We took this opportunity to visit the town square and watch the Christmas festivities for a while. We took a 1974 Jeep, which was in pristine condition despite its 50 years of service in mountains of Colombia, to our hotel which is a little ways out of town. The road was crazy steep with loose rock and two vertical corkscrew hairpins. I was thankful we did not attempt this road on the bikes but the old jeep handled it with ease. Our hotel overlooks the valley and we could see the lights of Jardin from the deck. We'll take a rest day tomorrow.
