I had a lot of different emotions running through me all day. Part of me is ready to head for home and part of me thinks we should push back up through Bolivia. "Let's just keep going!" I think Tiggrr is ready to go home as it has acquired several new rattles and vibrations over the last few weeks. The tires are 3/4 spent and the chain is on its last leg. Hopefully just enough left to get me home.

I had a three hour ride very early this morning from Montevideo to Colonia where I boarded a ferry over to Buenos Aires. After clearing customs I rode around for a bit marveling at the city. Buenos Aires makes Montevideo seem like it is a backwater town with its shiny skyscrapers and beautiful green parks.

I met up with another rider, Steve (from Ottawa), who I had crossed paths with several times along the way. We had been chatting over WhatsApp for the last week as we had one other experience that we wanted to satisfy in Buenos Aires. We were trying to find tickets to an Argentinian first division soccer game. Unfortunately we found the tickets entirely too expensive. More than $250USD. We settled on going to a local bar to watch the game. There we met up with some other riders that we had met in Ushuaia. The local scene was fun with people spilling out onto the streets to watch the game on televisions that were propped up in the front windows. People were singing their team's rally song and having a great time.

I have several days of logistics ahead. Tomorrow I need to wash the bike and get it ready to ship which includes draining most of the fuel and disposing of any and all liquids (motor oil, stove fuel, chain lube, WD40, superglue, etc.) flammable or not. Monday I drop the bike at the airport. I think this will take most of the day to clear customs and to package the bike. Tuesday and Wednesday are my days to explore Buenos Aires and then I fly to Houston early Thursday morning. The bike should arrive by Friday or Saturday.

I'll still have to ride home from Houston which will probably take a week or so. I'm looking forward to this time to reflect on my South American experience as I prepare to re-enter my "real" life.
