For a place that gets less than 40 inches of rain a year we got dumped on overnight and into the midday today. The thunder and lightning was spectacular, rocking our little hotel and lighting the sky. The streets filled with water and the ground became a thick mucky mess. We pretty much spent the morning hanging out and drinking coffee. About 1:00 things started to clear up and we went walking around the village. A white tuk tuk rolled up along side us and a young man name Jauncho asked if we would like to go on a tour of the desert. After some negotiation we agreed and climbed in. I'm well familiar with tuk tuks in Nepal which are named for the sound that they make. We asked Juancho what they call this vehicle here. He replied "Tuk Tuk". I guess it's universal. It was nice to let someone else do the driving and enjoy the scenery for a change. Tuk tuks are not very fast. We bumped along the unpaved road for about an hour before reaching a place where we went for a short hike through the hoodoos. It wasn't Bryce Canyon by any means but it was fun to see. The trails were still very muddy but the cacti were loving it. We stopped at cantina on the way back to sample some goat milk ice cream. Juancho was a good guide and told us all about living in the tiny town of Villavieja.

Tomorrow we are going to try to transport the Tiggrr to Ibague so that I can repair the clutch. We spent the evening walking around the town looking for a berm high enough for me to ride the bike into the bed of a pickup. We'll see how that goes. The managers of the hotel said that they would help us figure it out in the morning.
