I had a really lovely wild camp in the Chiricahua Wilderness last night. At over 6000 feet it was pretty cold, dropping to 28º over night. I had to jump around to warm up while I was packing my gear this morning and used my warm coffee mug to thaw my fingers.

Riding through the wilderness area this morning I saw several white tail deer. The early morning sunshine made for a delightful ride along what was a fairly rough forest road lined with snow in a few areas.

Dropping out of the mountains I headed for the town of Tombstone. This town was the site of the infamous O.K. Corral shoot out with Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. Now it's a fairly cheesy tourist town. My friend Bob Archibald rode out from Tucson to meet me there. He said that he wanted to get a picture with me in Patagonia so off we went. Patagonia Arizona that is. A little town near the Mexican border. There we went to visit a historic ranch where we saw a herd of antelope.

I'm going to spend a couple days staying in Tucson while I do some work on the bike. Bob took one look at my rear tire and quickly persuaded me that it should be replaced before I try to head home. My chain is also in pretty sad shape having exceeded its normal life expectancy about 5,000 miles ago. Looks like I will have to figure out how to dodge the snow as I head north from here as well.
